Banning Posters

It seems like when you guys ban posters, you always give another chance, then a second chance, then a third, then a fourth, then a fifth, and after that not sure. Curious to know who has survived the most bannings here at the Rx in history. A banning should be just that. A BANNING. Sorta like a beheading. Once your beheaded, you don't come back to talk your head off (no pun intended).

I don't think you should just ban to send a message in hopes they'll change and then allow them back. If you are going to do that, then maybe how about a mandatory three month banning. A three month banning sure hell sends one hell of a message.

Now I'm all up for warnings. Send private messages to posters who get out of line and let them know what they are on the verge of. And you at your own discretion can decide how many warnings you want to give a poster, but damn, stop this nonsense about banning somebody and then let them back in after a few days or so. Nobody respects bannings anymore it seems like and once they survive a banning or two they come back worse. Just an observation.

Thank you for your comments. However perhaps you are not aware that all bannings (especially those of veteran posters) are not permanent. They range from 1 day or 24 hours all the way up to two years and finally to permanent status. Moderators have approximately 18 different periods of time to choose from to ban someone built into the software.

Bottom line is most likely when you see a poster become "unbanned" it is because he served his or her time.

There are occasions when after what appear to be serious requests for clemency that a permanately banned poster will be re-instated after a consultation among The Rx Board Room Advisory Board as to the merits of the request.

TheRx.com does believe in giving a second chance to a poster who in good faith contacts us and pleads his case along with an apology.

In these cases the Rx mod team or Advisory Board will usually vote on allowing a poster to regain his or her postig rights. Sincere apologies and requests for re-instatement come with a warning but are generally but not always granted.

The Advisory Board consists of the Rx Mod team and several veteran posters who make up the Advisory Board. We rotate Advisory Board members every few years. Advisory Board members have access to The Rx. Board Room. These members have no mod powers but are just what they say they are - advisors to Th Rx and in many cases are very helpful.

Thanks Wil. I knew there just had to be some kind of method to your guy's madness.

However, I will say, It is a little funny when you go into your talk about this secretive group thing you got going on about who has power and doesn't.

Will it ever made known public as to who your "veteren" group is? Ha Ha Ha Ha.

The Advisory Board Members right now are G.Money, CalvinTY, and JOH™ plus our mod team (see below). We do not keep it a secret, although an Advisory Board member can request to remain annonymous for his own reasons. In the past we have had Blue Edwards, Slim, Tulsa, Lander, Uncle Butternutts, Shoebox, QS185 and quite a few more over the years.

Their identies has never been a secret. Remember an Advisory Board Member is not a moderator and has no extra authority than a regular poster except access to the Board Room and a vote in any issue that comes up for a majority rules vote. They are not obligated to do anything including vote.

Did you just say they had a "vote in any issue that coms up for a majority rules vote"?. That's alot of power for an "Advisory Board Member" if you ask me.

I'm not here to bust balls but obviousley their are alot of posters around here that for some reason or another that love the abusiveness they receive and come right out to be the first one's to defend the person that got banned. Weird to me because it's more of a woman thing but these are guys on here that do this. Ok, the gay movement has come a long way in the past 20 years but DAMN.

Right now we only have one very active Advisory Board Member. He is one of our most veteran and valued posters. He runs his own contest every football season. That is poster G.Money and usually he simply abstains on votes.
